…Enyimba’s struggles continue as Sporting Lagos secure second away victory
Sporting Lagos staged a remarkable comeback to secure their second away win of the season, defeating nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba 3-2 in Aba.
Following a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Abia Warriors on Sunday, the Tech Boys were eager to put the result behind them and bounce back against a struggling Enyimba side still searching for their first points of the season.
Enyimba took the lead in the 43rd minute through veteran forward Stanley Dimgba, giving the hosts a narrow advantage going into the break.
Sporting Lagos responded seven minutes after the restart, with centre-back Abdullahi Abdulraqeeb finding the equaliser in the 52nd minute.

The hosts quickly restored their lead from the penalty spot just two minutes later, as Tobi Ige Iyanda confidently converted the spot-kick to put Enyimba 2-1 ahead.
However, Sporting Lagos refused to give up and produced a stunning late response. Haruna Hadi levelled the scores in the 65th minute before Daniel Aboh completed the turnaround four minutes later to give the visitors a 3-2 lead.
Enyimba were unable to find another response as Sporting Lagos held on to claim a memorable victory away from home.
The defeat leaves Enyimba at the bottom of the league table with zero points from their opening four matches. Sporting Lagos, meanwhile, have six points from four games, with both of their victories coming away from home.
It was also Enyimba’s second consecutive home defeat, having suffered a 1-0 loss to Inter Lagos in Aba over the weekend. Their poor start will be a growing concern for the People’s Elephants, who are yet to pick up a single point this season.
Sporting Lagos will now turn their attention to a home fixture against high-flying Barau FC. Barau currently sit at the top of the table with three wins and two draws from five matches.
The league leaders have already picked up points away from home against Kun Khalifat and Ikorodu City and will be looking to maintain their unbeaten away record when they face Sporting Lagos.
