Simy Nwankwo became Al-Orobah’s all-time top scorer in a single season with his brace against Al-Jandal on Monday, Bold Sports reports.
The Nigerian striker led his side to a comeback 2-1 victory, leveling the scoreline on the brink of halftime, before netting the winner in the 57th minute.
It took his tally for the campaign to 23 goals in 24 matches, breaking the record previously held by Tiago Bezerra. The Brazilian forward scored 21 goals in the 2022/23 season.
Simy Nwankwo remains in the race for the golden boot of the Saudi First Division. He currently sits third behind veteran French forward Gaëtan Laborde (24 goals) and Dutch striker Sylla Sow (26 goals).

Simy Nwankwo’s goals have been crucial for Al-Orobah as they push for promotion back to the Saudi Pro League. They currently sit in the promotion qualification spots with three games left to play.
While they have won their previous two away games, Al-Orobah have also lost two consecutive home matches. They will thus be desperate to return to winning ways at home as they host Al-Wehda on Saturday.
