Sadiq Umar scored for the second straight game, leading Valencia to a crucial 2-1 victory over Girona in their La Liga clash at the Mestalla on Saturday.

The Nigerian International had also found the net in Valencia’s previous league game against Mallorca. This time, he scored the winning goal, helping his side move five points away from the relegation zone.

After a goalless first half where neither side recorded a shot on target, the hosts broke the deadlock few minutes into the second half through Largie Ramazani’s goal.

Nine minutes later, Sadiq Umar extended the lead for Valencia, shrugging off his marker, before heading in José Gayà’s brilliant cross.

The result takes Valencia up to 11th on the table with 39 points while Girona drop to 14th with 38 points.
