Sacramento Kings have officially announced the signing of D’Tigers forward, KZ Okpala, for the 2022/23 NBA season.
The 23-year-old, a 2019 33nd overall pick by the Miami Heat spent three seasons with the Florida-based franchise but failed to hold down a shirt in the rotation.
The club statement on the signing said, “The Sacramento Kings have signed forward KZ Okpala, according to General Manager Monte McNair. Per team policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“A 6ft 8in forward, Okpala spent the last three seasons with the Miami Heat (2019-22), who selected him with the 32nd pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.”
Known for his defensive prowess, Okpala will be hoping to get his career back on track as well as develop his offensive end of the game.
Okpala joining the Kings roster takes the number of D’Tigers stars in the franchise to three after power forwards Chimezie Metu and Chima Moneke. The trio will work with ex-D’Tigers head coach Mike Brown and former D’Tigers centre Olaseni Lawal who was recently appointed as the team’s player development assistant coach.
