Nigeria’s sole representatives in the 2025–26 CAF Champions League, Rivers United, will be chasing their first victory of the group stage when they host RSB Berkane at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, Bold Sports reports.

The Pride of Rivers endured a difficult start to their campaign, losing 3–0 to defending champions Pyramids FC on matchday one. Egyptian youngster Ahmed Atef El Sayed proved too hot to handle as he fired a clinical hat-trick to secure all three points for the title holders.

Berkane, meanwhile, arrived in the competition with strong momentum. Fresh off winning last season’s CAF Confederation Cup, the Moroccan side opened their Champions League journey with an emphatic 3–0 victory over Power Dynamos at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.

Despite being viewed as the underdogs, Rivers United enter Friday’s clash aware of the high stakes. A defeat would see Berkane surge six points clear, while even a draw keeps the Nigerian side three points behind, an unwelcome gap this early in the group stage.

Finidi George’s men will, however, draw confidence from their impressive qualification run in Uyo, where they defeated Aigles du Congo 1–0 and followed up with a 3–1 win over Black Bulls Maputo. Maintaining that home form could prove decisive as they attempt to revive their Champions League hopes.

In the group’s other fixture, Power Dynamos host Pyramids FC on Saturday, with the Egyptian side looking to secure their second victory of the competition.
