Remo Stars have been officially relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), only one year after winning their first league title.
The Sky Blue Stars played out a 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance in their final league match at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Sunday. However, the result was not enough to keep them in the top flight.
The 2024/25 champions entered the last matchday level on points with Kun Khalifat. But Kun Khalifat defeated Wikki Tourists 3-1 to move two points clear of the relegation zone.
Remo Stars ended the season in 17th position with 14 wins, 5 draws, and 19 losses in 38 games. Their away form was the second worst in the league, winning only once and losing 16 of their 19 away matches.

The relegation means Remo Stars will return to the Nigeria National League (NNL) for the first time since 2021. They dropped alongside El Kanemi Warriors, Bayelsa United, and Wikki Tourists.
Remo Stars won the 2024/25 NPFL title with 71 points. The club became the 21st team to win the Nigerian top-flight crown and the first Southwest club to achieve the feat in 25 years.
Their relegation brings a disappointing end to what fans expected will be a promising 2025/26 campaign. Despite the setback, the Ikenne-based side will aim for a quick return to the top division.
