Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars have dismissed rumours suggesting that head coach Daniel Ogunmodede is set to be sacked or about to resign, Bold Sports reports.

The club, in an official statement released on Wednesday, clarified that Ogunmodede “remains an integral part of our technical crew and continues to serve as the head coach of Remo Stars FC.”

Remo Stars have endured a slow start to the new NPFL season, sitting 17th on the table with just 10 points from eight matches. Their struggles were compounded by a disappointing CAF Champions League exit, where they suffered a heavy 7-1 aggregate defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, the club’s management reaffirmed its full confidence in Ogunmodede, who guided the team to their first-ever league title in the 2024-25 season, noting his ongoing commitment to both personal and professional development.

“Daniel is presently attending a CAF B coaching course in Abuja as part of his continuous professional development and commitment to personal and technical growth,” the statement read.

The club also confirmed that Ogunmodede will continue his national assignment with the Nigeria national team, as preparations intensify for the FIFA World Cup African play-offs, the potential intercontinental play-off, and the Africa Cup of Nations later this year.

“We firmly believe this is a period that calls for collective national support and dedication to the success of Nigerian football,” the statement added.

Concluding, the Remo Stars board described Ogunmodede as “a valued and vital member of the Remo Stars family,” expressing optimism that he will return stronger after completing his national and personal engagements.
