Remo Stars’ bid for their maiden Nigeria Premier Football League title received a significant boost on Monday, as they came from behind to secure a thrilling 2-1 victory over Rivers United.

Andy Okpe put Rivers United ahead in the 19th minute with a penalty kick. However, Remo Stars equalized in the 67th minute through Hadi Haruna’s effort, and Franck Mawuena completed the comeback in the 83rd minute to seal the win.

This victory propelled the Ikenne-based team to second place on the log, with 56 points, just one point behind league leaders Enugu Rangers after 32 rounds of matches.

Rivers United, meanwhile, are in the process of making up for missed NPFL fixtures during their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Remo Stars will next be in action on May 25, facing off against Kwara United.
