Rafiu Durosinmi to join Frankfurt for €9m, set for medical tomorrow

German Bundesliga side, Eintracht Frankfurt, have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi from Czech Republican club Viktoria Plzen for €9 million according to respected German publication BILD.

The 20-year-old little known Nigerian footballer is expected to undergo a medical on Thursday despite being currently injured. He is expected to sign with the Germans until 2028. It is unclear if the 6ft 4in striker would be available for Frankfurt’s first training of 2024 on January 2nd.

Respected football transfer specialist Gabrizio Romano also confirmed the news on his X account, formerly Twitter. “Eintracht Frankfurt completed the deal for Rafiu Durosinmi to join the club for €9m from Viktoria Plzen,” the Italian posted.

“Durosinmi arrives on Thursday as called by BILD — medical already booked. Second signing after Donny van de Beek, already 100% done.”

He is expected to go straight into the team as main striker Omar Mamoush is expected to be called up by the Egyptian national team ahead of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.

The lanky striker has scored six goals while providing six assists in 11 league games for Plzen in the Fortuna Liga.

Durosinmi had been on the radar of enterprising Premier League side Brighton, but the Nigerian opted for a move to the Bundesliga to continue his development. He has been likened to former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayo. He only joined Plzen last January from second tier Czech side Karvina.

Frankfurt would be hoping that the Nigerian would tow the line of his compatriots such as Taiwo Awoniyi and Victor Boniface in recent seasons.
