Italian club Pisa have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi from Czech side Viktoria Plzen, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

The deal is reported to be worth a total package of €11 million, including add-ons, making the 23-year-old the most expensive sale in Viktoria Plzen’s history. The transfer surpasses the previous record held by Robin Hranac, who joined Hoffenheim for €8 million.

Durosinmi’s move brings an end to a successful four-year spell in the Czech Republic, where he featured in 86 matches for Plzen, scoring 35 goals and providing 10 assists across all competitions. His performances established him as one of the club’s key attacking figures and attracted interest from several European sides.

Speaking after completing the transfer, the Nigerian striker expressed his delight at joining the Italian outfit. “I feel good to be here. I love the way the coach and sport director spoke to me, everyone wanted me here. So I’m glad to be here and I’m ready to give my best to the team,” Durosinmi told the club’s media.

Explaining his decision to move to Pisa, he added: “I had good interactions with the coach and the board. The plans are something I can go with and the playing system is something I like.”

Durosinmi also highlighted the influence of Pisa head coach Alberto Gilardino, a former striker with vast experience at the highest level. “He told me on the zoom call about how he played. He played in the Italian league and the Champions League. As a striker, it’s good for me to have this kind of coach. He will help me to achieve my dreams.”

Durosinmi may be in line to make his debut against Atalanta on Friday, with Pisa looking to end their nine-match winless streak and secure a result that could be crucial as they aim to climb out of the relegation zone.
