Philip Otele has arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Warsaw as Nigeria finalise preparations for Wednesday’s international friendly against Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadium.
The FC Basel winger joins the squad at an important stage of preparations, giving head coach Eric Chelle another attacking option before the clash. Otele recently featured in Nigeria’s successful Unity Cup campaign in London. The 27-year-old contributed an assist in the Super Eagles’ 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the final and played a role as Nigeria retained the trophy.
His arrival increases the number of players in camp to 21 ahead of the encounter with Poland. Chelle continues to assess his squad as he builds towards future competitive fixtures.
Otele could have an increased responsibility during the upcoming friendlies. Nigeria will be without two of their most influential attackers, Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen, for matches against Poland and Portugal.

Both players are absent following demanding club seasons, leaving Chelle with decisions to make in the final third. Their absence creates an opportunity for other forwards to stake a claim for regular places in the national team setup.
The coaching crew will be keen to see how players such as Otele respond when given greater responsibility against strong European opposition.
Nigeria’s preparations have gathered momentum in Warsaw as more players arrive in camp. The friendly against Poland offers another chance for Chelle to evaluate his squad depth and test tactical ideas.
Otele’s arrival adds further competition in the attacking department and strengthens the options available for the match.
The Super Eagles face Poland on Wednesday before travelling to take on Portugal in another high-profile international friendly. Both fixtures are expected to provide valuable lessons as Nigeria continues its preparations for future international assignments.
For Otele, the games present an opportunity to impress the technical crew and further enhance his standing within the national team.
