Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has suspended training with Italian Serie A side Napoli ahead of an impending transfer to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The Nigeria international has been training with Partenopei to stay in shape ahead of the new season but it is no secret that the Nigerian will not feature in a competitive game for Napoli in the coming campaign.
Osimhen missed Napoli’s 4-0 friendly win over Anaune Val di Non on Tuesday due to a slight muscle injury and according to reports the 25-year-old is close to completing a move to PSG and won’t want to risk getting injured.
The striker has suspended training with the club without giving a reason and Napoli is also believed to have backed his decision, according to Tuttonapoli, “It’s a matter of days, maybe even hours. The curtain is about to fall on the blue fairy tale of Victor Osimhen, who barring any unexpected developments will never wear the Napoli shirt again.
“The top scorer of the third Scudetto is in fact ever closer to Paris Saint Germain and consequently could leave the Dimaro training camp at any moment, where his presence – from a luxury temporary worker – is becoming at this point completely useless.
“After missing the first friendly of the season on Tuesday afternoon, due to a slight muscle strain, V09 has also suspended training without any official reasons. The club does not want him to risk getting injured, and Antonio Conte has also immediately noted this.”
During his time in Naples, the current African Footballer of the Year scored 76 goals and provided 18 assists in 135 games across all competitions for Napoli, helping them win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.
