Victor Osimhen will play against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, while Ademola Lookman will face German giants Bayern Munich in the league phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League.
This was confirmed during the league phase draw held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on Thursday, with several Nigerian players and their respective clubs discovering their eight opponents for the competition.
For Osimhen and Galatasaray, holders PSG headline a challenging schedule that also includes La Liga champions Barcelona and Premier League side Aston Villa. The Turkish champions will further face Sporting CP, Feyenoord, Lille, Stuttgart and AEK Athens.
Lookman’s Atletico Madrid also face a difficult route, with Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester United among their opponents. The Spanish side will also take on PSV, Fenerbahce, Bodø/Glimt, Viking and Stuttgart.

Zaidu Sanusi and Porto have been handed meetings with Manchester City, Liverpool and Napoli. Their other league-phase fixtures will be against PSV, Real Betis, Feyenoord, Slavia Prague and LASK.
Prosper Obah’s Shakhtar Donetsk will face record Champions League winners Real Madrid and Italian champions Inter Milan. They will also play Sporting CP, PSV, Fenerbahce, Leipzig, AEK Athens and Slovan Bratislava, who are managed by African legend Yaya Toure.
Slavia Prague boast five Nigerians in their senior squad, with Igoh Ogbu, Samuel Isife, Mubarak Suleiman, David Moses and Emmanuel Ayaosi all set to feature in the competition.
The Czech side face a demanding schedule against Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Porto, Villarreal, Fenerbahce, Lens and Sabah.
Moses Usor’s LASK, who are making their Champions League debut, will face a pair of European heavyweights in Real Madrid and Liverpool. They will also go up against Porto, Sporting CP, Fenerbahce, Bodø/Glimt, Slovan Bratislava and AEK Athens.
Christian Nwachukwu and Sabah will also experience Champions League football for the first time after securing a historic qualification. The Azerbaijani club will face Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Villarreal, Slavia Prague and Viking.
A total of 36 teams will compete in the league phase, which begins on September 8, 2026, and concludes on January 27, 2027.
The top eight teams in the standings will advance directly to the round of 16, while clubs finishing between ninth and 24th will enter the knockout phase play-offs for the remaining eight round-of-16 places. Teams finishing from 25th to 36th will be eliminated from the competition.
