Victor Osimhen made a promising debut for Galatasaray in their 5-0 victory over Rizespor. Despite not finding the back of the net, the Nigerian striker played a crucial role in the team’s dominant performance.
Despite joining the team just two days before the match, Osimhen was immediately inserted into the starting lineup. He was unlucky not to score a debut goal when his header was deflected into the net by a defender, resulting in an assist.

“It was very valuable that we won the first match with a big difference. I am happy here. We want to continue like this and win every match.”
“When I heard the interest during the transfer period, it was very important for me. I knew how big Galatasaray was, and how big the fan base was. It was exciting for me to come here. There was no question mark in my head. When I came here, it was the same as I thought. I know how important every match is. I will fight as much as I can.”
Despite playing just one game for Galatasaray, Victor Osimhen has quickly become a fan favorite in Istanbul. After the team’s victory, the Nigerian striker was captured on video climbing an iron railing to celebrate with the supporters, a gesture that has become familiar to fans of both the Super Eagles and Napoli.
