Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen extended his scoring streak for Galatasaray in a hard-fought Istanbul derby victory, as they triumphed 2-1 over rivals Besiktas in the Turkish Süper Lig on Monday.
Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, notched his fourth league goal with a towering header in the 67th minute, capitalizing on a pinpoint cross from Gabriel Sara.
The goal doubled Galatasaray’s lead after Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez had earlier put them ahead in the 13th minute, also assisted by Sara.
Osimhen who partnered with Mauro Icardi in the Galatasaray attack was a constant menace to the Besiktas defense throughout the game.
Ernest Muçi scored an injury time goal for Besiktas to half the deficit, but Galatasaray managed to see out the tense closing minutes to secure all three points, keeping them firmly at the top of the league with 28 points from 10 games.
Substituted in the 82nd minute, Osimhen left the pitch to applause from Galatasaray fans, making way for his former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens.
