Victor Osimhen close to agreeing new Napoli deal

Napoli are close to agreeing a new contract for Nigeria international Victor Osimhen as they hope to keep the striker for at least another season at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Osimhen was instrumental for Napoli who claimed their first Serie A title in 33 years last season scoring 26 goals which also earned him the coveted Capocannoniere, becoming the first African in the history of the league to achieve the feat.

His performance for the Serie A side in the last three seasons has led to him becoming one of the most sought-after strikers in the world with clubs such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and a host of other clubs battling for his signature.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the only hindrance to Victor Osimhen putting pen to paper on the new deal is the issue around his release clause.

The report also claims that Osimhen is excited to sign the new contract which will see a major improvement in his current salary at the club. Aside from earning a more improved salary, both parties will agree on a fee it will take for other teams to pry the player off the Italian side.

Napoli’s president has suggested that his transfer clause be pegged at €200m.
