Nigeria’s international friendly against Ghana and Mali will proceed without Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi, Empoli defender Tyronne Ebuehi, and newly called-up Luton Town defender Gabriel Osho, all sidelined due to injuries.
Scheduled for Friday, March 22nd, and Tuesday, March 26th, at the Stade de Marrakech in Morocco, the matches will miss the contributions of these key players.
Osimhen, despite being included in the matchday squad against Inter Milan over the weekend, remained on the bench due to a persistent injury—a scar inflammation from a prior injury. Ebuehi’s absence is attributed to a significant knee injury.
Forest’s Awoniyi faces a few weeks on the sidelines after an injury just before their clash with Luton Town. Similarly, Osho, despite his recent call-up, won’t make his debut for Nigeria due to injury.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed these absences on Tuesday via social media but hasn’t yet announced replacements.
It’s noteworthy that Awoniyi missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to injury, while Ebuehi wasn’t part of the squad. Osimhen, who played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s journey to the AFCON final, continues to struggle with lingering injury issues.
