Nigerian forward Gift Orban scored an impressive brace to help Hellas Verona secure a late 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in their Serie A clash on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

The 23-year-old was named on the bench for the third straight game, but came on in the 35th minute, replacing Giovane Nascimento who could not continue the match after picking up an injury.

Seven minutes after coming on, Orban scored the opener, finishing off a lightening fast counter-attack to give the visitors the lead going into half-time.

Fiorentina got a goal back in the 69th minute of the game as Unai Nunez unfortunate own goal brought the hosts level. Despite pushing for the winner, Paolo Vanoli’s side were unable to get another goal.

With the game looking set for a stalemate, Gift Orban scored the crucial winner in the 93rd minute, beating De Gea in his near post and handing Verona just their second win of the season.

Despite the victory, Hellas Verona remain 18th on the Serie A standings but move up to 12 points in 15 games while Fiorentina remain rooted to the bottom of the table with six points.

Verona, now unbeaten in two games, will aim to continue their improved form when they travel to face AC Milan on Sunday, December 28. On the other hand, Fiorentina will turn their attention to the Conference League as they face Lausanne on Thursday.

With his third and fourth goal of the season, Gift Orban is now just two goals shy of matching his tally from last campaign.
