Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika netted his first goal of the season as Club Brugge delivered a commanding 7-0 victory over 10-man Sint-Truiden in a Belgian Pro League clash on Saturday.
Onyedika anchored Brugge’s midfield with a solid performance, ensuring the visitors posed minimal threats. The spotlight, however, belonged to Christos Tzolis, who earned the Man of the Match title by scoring four of Brugge’s seven goals.
The remaining goals came from skipper Hans Vanaken, Ardon Jashari, and Onyedika, who found the back of the net in the 51st minute. He was substituted in the 58th minute, making way for Casper Nielsen.
Despite expressing a desire to leave the club during the summer, the Nigerian international has been a key player for Brugge this season, appearing in 13 of their 15 league matches.
Reacting to the win, head coach, Nicky Hayen, said he was delighted with his wards’ performance, especially how fast they started the game.
“We started this match with the right attitude and came early. It was important to maintain that lead and keep pushing the gas pedal,” Nicky Hayen said after the win.
“It was nice to see the group come together after the 2-0 to keep everyone on their toes. We can be satisfied after a match with many goals and many created chances. Today we showed that we are capable of a lot as a team.
Onyedika would be hoping he’s found his scoring boots for the season.
