Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was sent off as Udinese suffered a crushing 5–1 loss to Fiorentina in the Serie A on Sunday, a result that handed the hosts their first league win of the season, Bold Sports reports.

Okoye was dismissed as early as the seventh minute after charging out of his area and bringing down striker Moise Kean to prevent a clear goalscoring chance. Fiorentina capitalised fully on their numerical advantage, racing into a commanding three-goal lead before halftime to effectively put the contest beyond reach.

Rolando Mandragora broke the deadlock in the 21st minute before Albert Gudmundsson doubled the lead in the 42nd. On the stroke of halftime, Cher Ndour added a third to send Fiorentina into the break with a commanding 3–0 advantage.

Udinese’s head coach rang the changes at halftime, introducing two substitutions in an effort to stem the tide and avoid a humiliating defeat. However, the hosts continued to dominate, and 11 minutes after the restart, Fiorentina struck again to make it 4–0, with Moise Kean capping an impressive display with a well-taken goal.

Oumar Solet pulled one back for Udinese in the 66th minute, but Moise Kean quickly restored Fiorentina’s four-goal cushion just three minutes later with his second of the night, sealing a dominant 5–1 victory that delivered the club’s first three points of the season.

The emphatic win marks a major boost for Fiorentina, who remain rooted to the bottom of the table despite moving onto nine points, still five adrift of Parma in 17th place. For Udinese, the defeat compounds a frustrating outing, leaving them 11th in the standings on 21 points.

Maduka Okoye will serve a three-match suspension following his dismissal, ruling him out of Udinese’s upcoming fixtures. The suspension means he will miss the home clash against Lazio, as well as away trips to Como and Torino.
