As Nigeria get ready to face South Africa in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final, their coach José Peseiro says they are determined to reach the final and win the trophy.
The Super Eagles will clash with Bafana Bafana on Wednesday (today) in Bouake.
Peseiro praised Nigeria’s “great spirit and commitment” that helped them advance to the last four.
But he said their mission will only be complete if they go all the way and claim the title.
“We’re in the semis, there’s great team spirit and commitment and we’re playing as a unit,” Peseiro told reporters.
“We have a huge game against a strong team in South Africa and we want to win to reach the final because that is our goal.”
Peseiro recognised the challenge posed by South Africa.
“It’s a high level game and we know their quality, capacity and spirit – they have great players,” he said.
“My players need to give 100% or more to win and achieve our target of making the final.”
Nigeria are aiming for a fourth African title as they look to add to their previous wins in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
But Peseiro admits they face a tough test against a confident and organised South Africa side.
The Nigeria boss has his eyes set firmly on Sunday’s final in Abidjan as he plans to lead another glorious Super Eagles victory.
