Nigerian forward Nathan Tella found the net for Bayer Leverkusen as they secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg in their Bundesliga title chase.
Leverkusen needed the win to rebuild their lead at the top of the table. Champions Bayern Munich had recently closed the gap to seven points with a big win, but Leverkusen restored their 10-point advantage with this victory.

Wolfsburg’s hopes for a point evaporated early when a red card to Moritz Jenz reduced them to 10 men in the 28th minute. Tella capitalized on the advantage, scoring just before halftime to calm Leverkusen’s nerves. Florian Wirtz sealed the win with another goal in the 86th minute.
Tella praised his team’s patience after the red card, acknowledging that Wolfsburg would defend deeper. “We played a smart game,” he said. “We knew they’d sit back with a man down, so we had to be patient and stay in control. Flo’s goal was fantastic.”
The goal is Tella’s fifth of the season in 15 league games in his maiden campaign at the club.
Leverkusen remain undefeated in the league, boasting a remarkable record of 21 wins and 4 draws in their last 25 matches.
