George Ilenikhena shines in Monaco’s 3-1 win
Super Eagles winger Moses Simon provided an assist in Nantes’ 1-1 draw against Angers, while young Nigerian striker George Ilenikhena also shone for AS Monaco, contributing an assist in their 3-1 win over Le Havre in their French Ligue 1 encounters on Sunday.
Simon got Nantes off to a strong start, setting up Johann Lepenant’s 18th-minute opener. However, the hosts leveled the game just six minutes later, with Himad Abdelli converting a penalty in the 24th minute.

The assist was Simon’s 30th in Ligue 1 since joining Nantes, initially on loan from Levante in 2019, before making his move permanent in 2020.
His total assists tally for the club stands at 34 across all competitions, alongside 31 goals in 173 appearances. This season, the Nigeria international has scored twice and provided two assists.
Meanwhile, at the Stade Louis II, George Ilenikhena, who recently scored the winner against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, continued his excellent form for Monaco. The Nigerian forward created an assist for Folarin Balogun, who scored Monaco’s third goal in their 3-1 victory over Le Havre.
Although Ilenikhena is yet to find the back of the net in Ligue 1, his assist marks a positive contribution, and he will be eager to break his scoring drought in the upcoming games.
