Mexican Open: Mmoh to face Paul in round of 16

Michael Mmoh will face No 7 seed Tommy Paul in the round of 16 of the ongoing Mexican Open on Wednesday after beating Marcos Giron 7-6(3), 6-1 in the round of 32 on Tuesday morning. 

Despite being ranked 55th in the world and favourite to win the game on paper, Giron, however, could not withstand the firepower of Mmoh who won 66% of his service to Giron’s 60%.

Mmoh had 5/6 break points in the win while Giron only broke Mmoh’s serve twice out of 12 attempts while Mmoh, a player of Nigerian descent won 82 points to Giron’s 69. 

The 25-year-old would be hoping to repeat the feat against Paul who defeated Emilio Gomez 6-1, 7-6 in their round of 32 matchup. Paul who reached the semi-finals of the 2023 Australian Open in Melbourne.
