Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman returned to club action on Sunday as Atalanta cruised to a 3-0 victory over Torino in their Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico, Bold Sports reports.
Lookman, who only recently rejoined training after weeks of absence, was named on the bench and made his first appearance of the season when he replaced Kamaldeen Sulemana in the 87th minute. His introduction was part of a triple substitution that also saw Yunus Musah and Daniel Maldini brought on for Marten De Roon and Nikola Krstovic.
Atalanta had already put the game beyond doubt before the Nigerian’s late cameo. Ivan Juric’s men were clinical in the first half, scoring three times in the space of eight minutes.
Nikola Krstovic opened the scoring in the 30th minute before Sulemana doubled the advantage four minutes later. Krstovic then struck again in the 38th minute to complete his brace and all but seal the contest.

Torino improved after the break and tried to ensure the scoreline didn’t get worse. They had a chance to reduce the deficit in the 73rd minute when substitute Duvan Zapata took a penalty, but the Colombian striker missed from the spot.
Atalanta eventually comfortably saw out the game to record their second league win of the campaign and a clean sheet, a much-needed response after their midweek Champions League setback against Paris Saint-Germain.
The victory lifts Atalanta to fifth in the Serie A standings with eight points, while Torino sit 11th with four points after suffering their second defeat of the season.
Next up for Juric’s side is a tough away trip to Juventus on Saturday. Torino, meanwhile, will look to bounce back when they host newly promoted Pisa on Thursday.
