Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman is on the shortlist of Turkish giants Galatasaray ahead of the January transfer window, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

Lookman has been at the centre of transfer speculation since the end of last season. The Nigerian forward agreed personal terms with Inter Milan during the summer, but the Italian club failed to reach an agreement with Atalanta, stalling the move. Bayern Munich also made contact, but their loan proposal was dismissed by Atalanta.

The saga triggered tensions between Lookman and the club, with the 28-year-old refusing to train for weeks before eventually returning to the squad. Since then, he has struggled to rediscover his spark, managing just one goal in 10 appearances.

Most recently, Lookman was involved in a touchline confrontation with former head coach Ivan Jurić during a Champions League clash against Marseille. Jurić was sacked days later and replaced by Raffaele Palladino, but uncertainty still surrounds Lookman’s long-term future, with a possible exit in 2026 on the table.

Fabrizio, however, has dismissed reports claiming Galatasaray have already sealed a deal for the forward. According to him, no agreement exists between the player and the Turkish club, or between Galatasaray and Atalanta.

Still, Lookman remains one of the names on Galatasaray’s shortlist as they prepare for a major signing in January following a strong start to the season.

The Istanbul side have lost only twice across all competitions, sit top of the Turkish league with 29 points from 12 games, and currently sit ninth in the UEFA Champions League standings with nine points from four matches.

Should Galatasaray eventually strike a deal, Lookman would join his Super Eagles teammate Victor Osimhen, further improving the club’s quality as they push for domestic dominance and a deeper run in Europe.
