Terem Moffi scored a brace but it was not enough as Lorient suffered their first loss of the season in a 5-2 defeat to in-form Lens on Wednesday night in the French Ligue 1.
Lens had gone in front in the 24th minute through Florian Sotoca while Wesley Said made it 2-0 four minutes later. Moffi got one back for the visitors to make it 2-1 in the 41st minute before scoring the equaliser in the 50th.
The hosts came back stronger with Abdul Samed making it 3-1in the 57th minute. Sotoca made it 4-2 in the 77th minute while Lois Openda ensured that there was no way back for the visitors scoring the fifth goal for Lens in the 86th minute.
The loss was Lorient’s first from four league games this season as they currently sit seventh on the log with a game in hand.
The brace takes Moffi’s tally to four goals in four games this season after he had scored a brace to help his side grind out a 2-1 comeback win over 10-man Clermont Foot over the weekend.
Moffi was on for the entire duration of the game, however, his compatriot Innocent Bonke came on for Laurent Abergel in the 83rd minute.
Moffi’s four league goals sees him rise to fourth top scorer in the league behind Neymar (7), Sotoca (5) and Mbappe (5).
