Lagos Legends have been crowned champions of the NBBF Nigeria Premier Basketball League after defeating Rivers Hoopers 74–72 in a pulsating Final Four showdown in Port Harcourt, ending the KingsMen’s bid for a historic three-peat.
With the victory, the Legends also earned the right to represent Nigeria at the prestigious Basketball Africa League (BAL) in 2026.
The game was intense from tip-off, with both teams coming out firing and battling for every point and possession. The Legends struck first with a three-pointer, but the Hoopers clawed back to take the opening quarter 20–19.
The second quarter remained tightly contested, and neither side could pull away as both teams went into halftime level at 32–32.
Hoopers edged the third quarter 20–17 to carry a slim three-point lead into the final stretch, but the Legends’ resilience and explosiveness shone through in the fourth. They outscored the Hoopers 25–22 in the final period to seal a dramatic 74–72 win.

The game reached a thrilling climax as the Legends trailed by two points with 28 seconds left but showed remarkable composure to score four unanswered points and snatch victory on the Hoopers’ home court.
In the earlier game, Gboko City Chiefs cemented their status as the third-best team in the country with an 80–77 win over Nigerian Customs in an entertaining contest.
