Kano Pillars produced a dominant display at the Sani Abacha Stadium to thrash Bendel Insurance 4–0 on NPFL Matchday 33 and boost their fight to climb away from the lower end of the table.
The breakthrough arrived in the 23rd minute when Mustapha Jibrin finished confidently to give the hosts the lead. Ten minutes later, Kano Pillars doubled their advantage as Chidozie Okorie converted from close range after being set up by Ahmed Musa.
The hosts maintained control after the interval and nearly added a third in the 51st minute, but Okorie dragged his effort wide after a clever through pass from Rabiu Ali. Musa remained a constant threat, and in the 69th minute he delivered a dangerous cross that saw Jibrin strike the crossbar.
A forced change on the hour mark saw Mohammed Aminu replace the injured Luis Dadong, and the substitute made an instant impact. Aminu extended the lead in the 81st minute before Bernard Ovoke added a fourth just four minutes later to seal a comprehensive victory.
Heading into the match, Kano Pillars were struggling in 16th place with 39 points, while Bendel Insurance sat comfortably in 7th with 46 points.
The win lifts Kano Pillars to 14th on the tabel with 42 points, significantly strengthening their survival push and likely moving them up from the relegation zone into mid-table contention. Bendel Insurance, meanwhile, remain on 46 points, seventh on the log.
