Sporting Lagos defeated Kano Pillars 3-0 in the Nigeria Premier Football League, thanks to a brace from Junior Lokosa and another from Jonathan Alukwu. The game was played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
Junior Lokosa, a former Kano Pillars striker, opened the scoring in the 11th minute, and in-form forward Alukwu doubled the lead in the 28th minute. Lokosa added his second goal in the 36th minute to give the hosts a comfortable cushion heading into halftime.
The second half produced no goal from both teams as all of Pillars’ attack was foiled while the hosts looked to be comfortable with the scoreline.
Sporting Lagos moved up to seventh in the league table with 11 points from seven games, three points behind leaders Lobi Stars, who pipped Bayelsa United 2-1 away from home thanks to a brace from Samuel Tiza Iorwuese.
The brace takes Lokosa’s goal tally for the season to three in seven league games, while Alukwu has now scored in four consecutive games, bringing his total to four in seven appearances.
The loss was Kano Pillars’ fourth of the season in seven games, and they dropped to 10th in the table. Sporting Lagos’ next game is at home to struggling Heartland FC, who are bottom of the table without a win.
