Nigerian and Girondins de Bordeaux striker, Josh Maja, has been honoured with a place in the French Ligue 2 Team of the Season following his remarkable performance throughout the season in the second division of French football.
Maja, who has represented Nigeria on one occasion, displayed an impressive campaign, scoring 16 goals in 37 league matches and contributing six assists.
This exceptional performance earned him a well-deserved spot among the league’s most outstanding players, recognized at a ceremony held on Sunday.
This accolade serves as a testament to Maja’s immense impact on Bordeaux, almost singlehandedly propelling them towards qualification for Ligue 1 with his remarkable contributions.
In a conventional 4-3-3 formation, the Ligue 2 team of the season comprises of Arthur Desmas from Le Havre, named the league’s best goalkeeper, guarding the post. The defense includes Niels Nkounkou from Saint-Étienne as the left back, supported by Arouna Sangante from Le Havre, Yoann Barbet from Bordeaux, and Kevin Van Den Kerkhof from Bastia.
The midfield features Saint-Étienne’s talented 21-year-old Benjamin Bouchouari, who also secured a place in the Team of the Season, along with the Le Havre duo of Victor Lekhal and Amir Richardson.
Leading the attack is Georges Mikautadze from Metz, voted as the Player of the Season, accompanied by Maja and Jipé Krasso from Saint-Étienne, completing the list of the league’s finest players.
