While initially missing several opportunities in the first half, Alex Iwobi redeemed himself when it mattered most, dealing United their first defeat of 2024 and elevating his Premier League goal tally to four.
This standout performance marks Iwobi’s most prolific goal-scoring season to date. Reflecting on the win, the 27-year-old conveyed his delight, stating, “I’m over the moon right now. To come back into the team and get a win at Old Trafford, a big stadium, there’s no better feeling than this,” Alex Iwobi told the club’s media team.
“I believe we displayed exceptional performance throughout the match. Despite our recent strong showings not translating into results, overcoming United at Old Trafford is a significant turning point. Hopefully, we can build on this momentum,” Iwobi shared with the club’s media team.

Confident in his winning shot, Iwobi anticipated the challenge posed by United’s keeper Andre Onana, remarking, “Once I made the decisive touch inside the box, I sensed the keeper would anticipate the far corner. However, I outwit him and slot the ball into the near post.
“This win will give us a world of confidence and hope we’re able to take it to our next game against Brighton.”
