Ikorodu City have confirmed the promotion of two academy players, left-back Ayomide Abatan and centre-back Uche Ogbonnaya, to their first team on two-year contracts.

The announcement was made on Saturday, ahead of the club’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season opener away at Kwara United on Sunday.

Both players impressed while featuring for Ikorodu City’s academy side in the Nationwide League last season. The club announced the move via its official handle, stating.

“After spending last season with our @Ikoroduacademy in the NLO, left-back Ayomide Abatan and centre-back Uche Ogbonnaya have joined us permanently on a two-year contract.”

Meanwhile, Shooting Stars SC have strengthened their squad with the signing of forward Qamar Adegoke on a two-year deal from Nasarawa United. Adegoke scored three goals in 19 appearances last season, helping Nasarawa avoid relegation.
