A top European football scout has revealed that he has recommended Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare to his club ahead of the summer transfer window, urging them to seize the opportunity if they’re in search of a quality striker at a reasonable price.

Arokodare has enjoyed a stellar season with Belgian side Genk, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists in 33 league appearances — a form that is expected to draw interest from several top European clubs this summer.

Among the clubs reportedly eyeing the 24-year-old is Premier League outfit Newcastle United, who are said to be considering him as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak, should the Swedish striker leave St. James’ Park during the transfer window.

According to Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, the unnamed scout emphasized that Arokodare would represent great value in the market, with Genk expected to demand a fee in the region of €20 to €25 million.

“I have told my club: if you are looking for a striker, buy Tolu. I estimate that Genk will ask for 25 million euros, but he could be secured for around 20 million,” the scout reportedly said, per Voetbalnieuws.

Genk signed Arokodare from French Ligue 2 side Amiens in 2023 for €2m as a direct replacement for fellow Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu, who departed for Premier League club Southampton. While the club would prefer to hold on to their top scorer, history suggests they may struggle to retain him amid growing interest from abroad.

Genk’s immediate focus, however, remains on securing their fifth league title. They currently sit atop the Belgian Pro League playoff standings, though their lead has narrowed to just one point following a 1-0 defeat to closest rivals Club Brugge last weekend.
