Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has reaffirmed his commitment to Bayer Leverkusen, dismissing ongoing speculation linking him with a potential move away from the Bundesliga side, Bold Sports reports.

The Nigerian international has been at the centre of transfer rumours this summer, with reports suggesting that Italian giants AC Milan are interested in securing his services as they begin a new chapter under recently appointed manager Massimiliano Allegri.

According to Bild, Bayer Leverkusen’s new head coach Erik ten Hag is reportedly leaning towards Czech striker Patrik Schick as his preferred choice to lead the attack next season — a development that has fuelled talks about Boniface’s future at the club.

Despite the speculation, Boniface has resumed preseason training with Leverkusen and made it clear that he has no plans to leave the club.

“I’m absolutely certain that my future is here. From my point of view, it’s 100% clear that I’m staying. I still have three years left on my contract, I want to win titles with Bayer, and have a great season,” he told German journalist Phillip Arens.

The 23-year-old also spoke positively about his relationship with fellow striker Schick, pointing to past performances where the pair combined effectively.

“Do you remember our 4-3 win in Stuttgart? We played together and had one of the best games of the season. Patrik is a very good friend. We push each other every day.”

“When I’m not playing, I know Patrik is there – and vice versa. That’s how it should be. Every coach has his ideas. In Belgium, I often played as a deep-lying striker or on the wing, and I’ve done the same in Leverkusen.”

Last season, Boniface featured in 27 matches, scoring 11 goals and registering one assist. Since joining the German outfit, he has made 61 appearances in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and providing 10 assists.
