South African coach Hugo Broos has assigned Mamelodi Sundowns defender Khuliso Mudau to mark Nigeria’s star player Ademola Lookman in their CAF 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers match today in Uyo.
Lookman, who has been impressive in recent games, including a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen and a good run of form in the Serie A, is considered one of Nigeria’s most feared players.

Broos, however, believes Mudau has the qualities to contain Lookman, citing his previous performance against Wilfried Zaha in Ivory Coast.
“He (Mudau) had a problem with his shoulder but he will be fit for the match. We will see Mudau like we always see him and I hope he puts up a good performance because he is playing against the best player at the moment for Nigeria Ademola Lookman. I am confident of what he can do, I know his qualities. He did it in Ivory Coast against Zaha so I have full confidence in him.
Ademola Lookman was Nigeria’s top scorer at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast finding the back of the net three times. He also had an impressive campaign with Serie A club Atalanta where he scored scored three goals for Nigeria
Lookman’s pace, trickery, athleticism, football intelligence, and quick decision-making has made him one of the most feared wingers across the world.
