Gift Orban excited after scoring four goals in Gent win

Little known Nigerian striker, Gift Orban, scored four goals for KAA Gent in their 6-2 drubbing of Zulte Waregem in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday, taking his league tally of the season to seven goals in five appearances.

After Julien De Sart and Alessio Castro-Montes’ goals in the 37th and 41st minutes, it then became the Orban show as the Nigerian found the back of the net four straight times in the 53rd, 68th, 75th and 83rd minutes to earn the visitors the maximum points at the Elindus Arena.

The 20-year-old who joined the 2014/15 Belgian champions during the January transfer window from Norwegian side Stabæk has hit the ground running finding the back of the net seven times in five appearances. The Nigerian also scored the solitary goal which earned Gent a 1-0 win over RSC Anderlecht last weekend.

A delighted Orban says he’s excited to have help earn his side the maximum points as they hope to qualify for the Championship Playoffs phase of the Belgian League.

“It is indeed the first time in my professional career. I had never even made a hat-trick before, but… it doesn’t mean much to me in the end, the victory is very important.” An excited Orban said after the win.

Orban’s four goals takes his tally to eight goals in nine appearances for the Belgian side in all competitions.
