Nigerian wonderkid George Ilenikhena is on the verge of joining French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco after undergoing medicals. The €20.7 million deal sees him move from Belgian club Royal Antwerp.
The 17-year-old striker enjoyed a breakout season at Antwerp, netting 14 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions. Ilenikhena only spent one season with the Belgian club after arriving from French second division side Amiens SC for €6 million.
His phenomenal performances attracted interest from several top European clubs, with Monaco ultimately securing his signature. An official announcement is expected once the medicals are complete.
Having agreed to personal terms, George Ilenikhena is set to become a key part of Monaco’s future plans.
