Veteran Nigeria Premier Football League coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has penned a two-year contract extension with Shooting Stars, securing his position at the club until 2026.
Ogunbote’s new deal is a testament to his impressive performance last season, where he led the Oluyole Warriors to a 4th place finish in the 2023/24 NPFL season, narrowly missing out on continental football.
The club’s management believes that Ogunbote’s renewed contract will bring stability to the team, while also positioning them to compete for a league trophy and continental football ticket in the upcoming season.
Expressing his delight, Gbenga Ogunbote said he is thrilled to sign a contract extension with Shooting Stars, a club he previously managed from 2012 to 2016. He sees this as an opportunity to build on the successes achieved last season and drive the team forward.
“I am thrilled to announce that I have signed a 2-year contract extension as the head coach of Shooting Stars,” the former Enyimba and Lobi Stars coach tweeted.
“@shootingsc . I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this talented group of athletes and I am excited about the future we will build together.”
Shooting Stars’ first game of the 2024/25 NPFL season is away to newly promoted Nasarawa United in Lafia.
