Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi grabbed his first assist of the season as Fulham battled from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in their Premier League clash at Craven Cottage on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

Fulham entered the game searching for their first win of the campaign after an opening-day draw against Brighton, while United were desperate to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

The visitors started strongly, with new signing Matheus Cunha twice coming close to breaking the deadlock, only to be denied by goalkeeper Bernd Leno and the crossbar.

United were then handed a golden opportunity to take the lead when Calvin Bassey was adjudged, after a VAR review, to have fouled Mason Mount in the box. However, skipper Bruno Fernandes wasted the chance, blasting his penalty over the bar to leave the scores level.

Manager Ruben Amorim responded by introducing new arrivals Benjamin Sesko and Diogo Dalot to spark his side into life. The breakthrough eventually came in the 58th minute when Bryan Mbeumo’s corner was met by Leny Yoro, whose header deflected off Rodrigo Muniz and into the net to put United ahead.

Fulham boss Marco Silva reacted quickly, sending on Harry Wilson and Antonee Robinson in the 62nd minute before introducing Raul Jimenez and Emile Smith Rowe midway through the second half.

The changes transformed the hosts’ attack, and it was Robinson who set up Iwobi, with the Nigerian delivering a pinpoint cross for Smith Rowe to score the equaliser in the 73rd minute.

The Cottagers pressed for a late winner but were denied by United’s resilient backline. At the other end, Harry Maguire nearly snatched victory for the visitors, but his header sailed narrowly wide in stoppage time.

The draw leaves Fulham sitting 13th on the table with two points from two matches, while Manchester United languish in 16th, still searching for their first win of the season under Amorim.
