Nigeria’s U20 men’s national team, the Flying Eagles, have settled in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of the start of the 2026 WAFU B U20 Championship, which gets underway this weekend.
The defending champions arrived in the Ivorian capital, Abidjan, on Monday before making the journey by road to Yamoussoukro, where they are camped at the Trio Corridor Hotel.
The Flying Eagles will begin their title defence against rivals Ghana’s Black Satellites at the Lycée Scientifique on Monday afternoon in a repeat of the 2024 final.
Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 in Lomé to lift the previous edition of the regional tournament, and Abdu Maikaba’s side will be aiming for another positive start as they seek to retain the title.

Following the clash with Ghana, the seven-time African champions will face Togo’s Sparrow Hawks on Thursday before rounding off their group campaign against Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions on Sunday, August 2.
Maikaba has named a 23-man squad for the tournament, featuring players drawn from clubs across Nigeria and abroad.
