Favour Ashe became the first Nigerian to qualify for the men’s 100m event at the Paris 2024 Olympics after winning the Florida Relay in 9.99s on Saturday.
Ashe’s time was enough to hit the Olympics qualifying standards which stood at 10.00s.
Jamarion Stubbs was second in 10.18s while Jamal Miller placed third in 10.19s.
He thus became the fifth Nigerian to secure automatic qualification for the Olympics which will hold between July 26 and August 11 this year in Paris.
Others who have hit the automatic qualification mark are Tobi Amusan (women’s 100m hurdles), Ruth Usoro (women’s long jump), Ezekiel Nathaniel (400m hurdles) and Edose Ibadin (800m).
