Nigeria will not have a representatives at the final of the Paris 2024 Olympics after both Favour Ashe and Kanyinsola Ajayi failed to make it out of their semi-finals.
Ajayi failed to replicate his heat for, where he defeated the Olympics champion Marcel Jacobs to win, placing sixth in the semi-final in 10.13s. The heat was won by South Africa’s Akani Simbine in 9.87s, while Letsile Tebogo placed second in 9.91s.
The two fastest non-qualifiers also came for the semis with Italy’s Jacobs in third at 9.92s and USA’s Kenneth Bednarek in fourth at 9.93s also scaled through to the final.
Ashe had earlier failed to qualify for the final after placing sixth in his semi-final in a time of 10.08s.
Ashe’s semi-final was won by Jamaica’s Oblique Seville in 9.81s, beating World Champion Noah Lyles, who finished second in 9.83s.
