Falconets to play friendlies against Poland, South Korea ahead of 2026 U-20 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, will play two international friendly matches against Poland and South Korea as part of their final preparations for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

The two-time FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup silver-medallists arrived in Poland on Tuesday and have since settled into their training camp in Trzebnica. They commenced training on Wednesday at the Stadion Miejski, Fair Play Arena, as preparations for the tournament intensified.

The Falconets will first face hosts Poland on Friday, August 28, in their opening warm-up game. The encounter will be played at the Municipal Stadium in Brzeg and is scheduled to kick off at 12 noon local time.

Nigeria will then take on South Korea on Tuesday, September 1, in their second and final friendly before the World Cup. The match will take place at the Remes Resort & Spa Football Stadium, with kick-off set for 4pm local time.

The two matches are expected to provide Head Coach Moses Aduku and his technical crew with an opportunity to assess the team’s progress and make final adjustments ahead of the tournament. The games will also allow the players to test themselves against different styles of opposition and sharpen their tactical understanding.

The friendlies will be particularly important for the Falconets as they continue to adapt to the conditions in Poland. The technical crew is also using the training camp to work on tactical organisation, technical execution, physical conditioning and team cohesion.

Nigeria will begin their World Cup campaign in Group F against Spain on September 7, before facing China PR on September 10 and New Caledonia on September 13.

The Falconets, who finished as runners-up at the 2010 and 2014 editions, will be hoping the two friendly matches provide the ideal final test as they chase Nigeria’s first-ever FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup title.
