FA Sport has partnered with Kwara State to organize a youth football scouting tournament, scheduled for July 15th to 19th, 2024.
Representatives of FA Sport visited Kwara State Sports Commission officials led by its Executive Chairman, Mallam Bolakale Magaji, on Tuesday.
The delegation of the tournament organisers included Programme Coordinator Mr. Olawale Olatoye, FA Sport representative Mr. Ayodeji Adegbenro, and Alhaji Abdulrasaq Owolabi Agbaji, Chairman of Ilorin West Local Football Council.
Magaji and Director of Sports Mallam Ibrahim Bako led the delegation on a tour of the state’s sporting facilities, including the Mainbowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, where the tournament will be held, and the newly built Squash Court.
Commending the initiative, Magaji stated, “The Kwara State Government is committed to developing sports at the grassroots level, and this scouting programme is a laudable initiative that aligns with our objectives. We are happy to support this programme and provide the necessary facilities for its success.”
He further added, “We are passionate about uncovering and nurturing talent in Kwara State, and this programme is a vital step in achieving that goal. I urge all stakeholders to support this initiative, and I assure the organisers of our full backing to make this programme a success.”
The tournament, officially named the Kwara State/FA Sport Scouting programme, aims to identify promising young football talent in the region, supporting the state’s grassroots sports development efforts.
As a token of appreciation, the organizers presented Magaji and Bako with souvenirs of the programme.
