Nigeria international, Joe Aribo, says he is delighted with the team’s performance in their 2-1 comeback win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the English FA Cup on Saturday.
Odsonne Édouard gave Palace the lead in the 14th minute but Saints captain, James Ward-Prowse scored the equaliser in the 37th minute as both sides went into the halftime break with a 1-1 draw.
The second half was cagey for both teams but it was the Saints who came out top’s at the end of the game. Adam Armstrong dispossessed Palace keeper Vicente Guaita on 68 minutes to score what proved to be the winner.
While Patrick Vieira’s men fought back to get a favourable result, Southampton held on for the victory which sent them into the fourth round.
Aribo was in action for 87 minutes before being replaced by Ibrahima Diallo to shore up the team’s midfield.
Reacting to the win, the former Glasgow Rangers man said he was proud of the team effort in the victory.
“Great result and performance from the team, onto the next round. Thank you to the travelling fans,” Aribo tweeted after the game.
It is a positive result for the saints who are bottom of the log in the Premier league and are without a win in their last seven league games.
