Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has stressed that the team will bounce back from their current stretch of bad results revealing that the team isn’t low on confidence but only needs to be more consistent.
After a spirited display against champions Manchester City at the Etihad over the weekend, pundits had expected the Toffees to put up a more improved display against Brighton at Goodison Park, however, they were taken to the cleaners by Roberto De Zerbi’s men in an heart wrenching 4-1 loss.
The result means a win for either Nottingham Forest, West Ham or Wolves in their fixtures tonight, will see Everton drop into the relegation. The result has also put the position of manager Frank Lampard on the edge of a sack.
Iwobi, who has been one of Everton’s top players this season, had a game to forget against Brighton. He only managed one shot on target while he failed to record any tackles, interceptions or clearances.
Speaking after the game, the Nigeria international has revealed that the team are not low on confidence as suggested by some pundits but only need to be more consistent also stressing that they’ll recover from the poor form.
“I don’t think confidence is the issue. We showed how we can play versus Man City,” Iwobi told Liverpool Echo.
“We can’t be one minute good one minute bad. We’ve got to be consistent. The way we discussed in the changing room now we all want to fix it. I’m confident we can get ourselves out of this.”
The 26-year-old midfielder has scored a goal while providing five assists for the Toffees this season.
