Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi, believes Everton has all it takes to grind out a win against arch rivals Liverpool when both sides clash at the Anfield Stadium on Monday.
The Toffees recorded a shock 1-0 win over leaders Arsenal on February 4, at Goodison Park, the first match after the appointment of new manager Sean Dyche.
Liverpool and Everton have struggled for consistency this season but the Reds are without a win in their last four league games losing to Brentford, Brighton and Wolves while playing a goalless draw against Chelsea. Everton on the other hand will be hoping to record a second consecutive win for the first time this season while Liverpool will be keen to end their four-game league winless run.
Iwobi was in the history making Everton squad that defeated Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield in the 2020/21 season and believes the feat can be repeated.
“We have won at Anfield without fans, now it would be even better to do it with fans. I’m sure we wouldn’t leave the pitch for an hour if we beat them. We’d stay on that pitch and make it ours. We are motivated to get that win,” the 26-year-old told Dailymail.
“The win against Arsenal showed it is a mindset thing. We are capable of doing it because now we have done it. We just have to remain consistent which is the hardest bit. It is having that mentality to go into every game like we did against Arsenal.”
The Nigerian has been one of the most important players for the Toffees this season. He’s scored one goal while providing five assists in 21 league games for the Premier league strugglers.
