Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has signed a two-year deal with Turkish second division club Gençlerbirliği.
The team announced Etebo’s signing on their X account, formerly Twitter, on Friday.
The Ankara-based club said, “Our Gençlerbirliği signed a two-year deal with Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Peter Etebo.”
The club, known as the “red-blacks,” expressed their enthusiasm for the new signing, stating, “We welcome Oghenekaro Peter Etebo to our family and wish him success in the red-black jersey.”
The 27-year-old midfielder’s journey has seen him represent Feirense in Portugal, Warri Wolves FC in his native Nigeria, Las Palmas in Spain, Watford in England, and most recently, Aris in Greece. His previous experience in Turkish football with Galatasaray is expected to aid his adaptation to his new club.
The move signals a new chapter for Etebo, who had been out of action with a lengthy injury.
