Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze and defender Chidozie Awaziem are questionable for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
Chukwueze picked up a knock during training on Wednesday and missed the final session before the match on Thursday. Awaziem, meanwhile, has been battling a stomach bug that kept him out of practice as well.

However, coach Finidi George remains optimistic about their availability despite missing Thursday’s training.
“For me, all the players are ready. Chukwueze had a knock yesterday. Probably he is good to go and Chidozie Awaziem just stomach upset and he’s fine now.”
Finidi downplayed any pressure, stating his focus is on securing victory. “I’m not here to prove anything, just win the game,” he declared. “We’ll approach the match with a winning mentality.”
